Doors open at 8am with light refreshments.
Please join the Healthy Dearborn Coalition for our monthly meeting. We will have Guest Speak, Norm Cox from the The Greenway Collaborative, Inc giving a presentation on the plans for Dearborn's Multi-Modal Transportation Plan (MMTP). The MMTP will include the many forms of alternative transportation...including BICYCLE INFRASTRUCTURE in the city! This meeting is the FIRST PUBLIC PRESENTATION regarding this plan and is sure to be VERY INFORMATIVE!
The meeting will be held at the Beaumont Corporate Services building located at 15500 Lundy Parkway (north of Ford Rd/west of Greenfield Rd). The building has a big OAKWOOD sculpture/sign in front. You need to check in with the security/information desk when you enter to be directed to the meeting room. Please arrive a few minutes early so as not to disrupt the meeting start. Thanks!

Healthy Dearborn - Active Communities Award
As many of you might know, as President of SODA I represent the association & neighborhood on the Healthy Dearborn Coalition as well as on their steering committee. I'm honored to be representing SODA next week at the Governor's Fitness Awards Gala where The City of Dearborn is nominated for an award in the "Active Communities" category. There are lot's of positive things happening in Dearborn! Check out the video below for Michigan Fitness Foundation's video for Dearborn's nomination. Healthy Dearborn Awarded Grant for DPS
Recently Healthy Dearborn was awarded $445,890 from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund for a healthy schools project!
Whitmore-Bolles, Nowlin, O.L. Smith Middle School, along with 5 other Dearborn schools will be a part of a program called “Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC)”, a model that will work to facilitate healthy attitudes and behaviors.
Specifically, this grant will provide for: 1) An Edible School Garden/Orchard; 2) Accompanying STEM garden and nutrition lessons utilizing the newly created school orchards; 3) Evidenced-based physical education including new equipment and technology as well as after-school energizer club; 4) Monthly family programs targeting healthy eating and active lifestyles; 5) Resources for health-related communications, and; 6) Professional development for teachers and administration.
The other school involved are: Salina Elementary; Salina Intermediate; Long Elementary; McCollough-Unis Elementary-Middle; and Lowrey Elementary & Middle.
