City of Dearborn to distribute free dry ice for residents affected by ice storm on Friday, Feb. 24

The City of Dearborn will once again be distributing free dry ice today, Friday, Feb. 24 from 2 to 8 p.m. in the Henry Ford Centennial Parking lot, in a spot accessed only from Reckinger Road. Enter Reckinger from Greenfield. This is the road that travels behind the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center.

Follow it all the way to the library parking lot.

Requirements

Bring ID showing Dearborn residency, and distribution is limited to one unit per household. Bring a cooler or zipped bag for the safe transport of ice. It is important to transport dry ice in a closed container.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has provided guidance for preserving food before, during, and after a power outage.

UPDATED: Warming center information

The City of Dearborn continues to have several warming centers throughout the city where residents can shelter in heated indoor spaces. The new locations for Friday, Feb. 24 are at the Centennial Library, The Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, and the Melvindale Ice Arena. All warming centers are open during regular business hours, with the exception of the Police Department lobby, which is open 24/7.
