I'm Glad I Was Able To Help

Hey guys it's Regan Ford President of S.O.D.A. - I wanted to address my part in the mowing of the grass on Alter Rd. on Monday.

I'm glad I was able to help keep the intersection safe while the local and state governments try and figure out who dropped the ball. Alter Rd. has the Islamic Center as well as three other Christian Churches. I thought it would be a good show of community for Arab Americans and Christians to unite and solve a problem, but unfortunately only the Mosque was shown on TV causing much speculation.

I understand some corners of social media are heating up with speculation and hate as it always seems too with some people. I even read one remark where a lady suggested I should be ASHAMED of myself for mowing the grass.

I am hear to tell you I am not ashamed and I'm glad I was able to take care of a problem that many levels of our government were apparently unable to do. I am also thankful for the media coverage that prompted those responsible to finally come out on Tuesday and take care of the rest of it.

I am not here to point fingers at which of our local, county or state officials were responsible. I mowed the grass as a service to the residents of our city who were facing a problem and safety issue that was going unresolved. I love Dearborn and I enjoy being able to help and assist when I can. But if you are a member of S.O.D.A., I want you to know that community service is the backbone of our group and Monday was nothing more than another example of the positive changes we continue to make in our beloved Dearborn.
